Jesse Pyles is the Sustainability Coordinator at Unity College in Unity, Maine. He focuses on mobilizing student sustainability efforts on campus, and has developed the college’s climate action plan as signatory to the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment. He oversees campus waste, food production, and energy assessment work. He sits on the College’s planning and budget committees, and is a member of the academic Center for Sustainability and Global Change.  In 2008, Unity completed the LEED Platinum, net-zero energy Unity House — a campus residence for the college’s president.  In 2011, the college will complete a first-of-its-kind student residence built to Passive House energy standards.  Jesse is particularly interested in the educational opportunities that these and other green building projects can provide students of every age.  Jesse studied environmental studies at Pace University and environmental education with the Audubon Expedition Institute.  He is a Senior Fellow with the national Environmental Leadership Program.
