Program
While there’s widespread agreement that Maine’s existing building stock is in need of energy efficiency improvements, there are still many questions as to how to go about turning Maine homes in to models of efficiency. Join us to hear from the Kaplan Thompson Architects team about some of the deep energy retrofits they’ve done. Learn from case studies and outcomes.
Special Note: We’ll be collecting toys for Toys for Tots at this event. If you are so inclined, please bring a new, unwrapped toy. Thanks!

Jesse is a regular guest juror for student work in the Architecture Department at the University of Maine as well as a regular participant in the PSA’s community focused, “Ten Minute Architect.” In recent years, he has been a volunteer steering committee member and designer for Greater Portland Habitat for Humanity. He is a founding member of the newly formed Maine Passivhaus Alliance, which promotes education about this German originated energy efficiency movement.
He has practiced all phases of architecture and design while working at firms in Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont. Jesse grew up in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, and lives in the Deering Center neighborhood of Portland with his family.
Jesse’s portfolio straddles the residential and commercial worlds, and has a deep knowledge of modern construction types and project planning. These projects have ranged from designing intimate residential additions to managing multi-million dollar construction projects.
