Symposium on Green Schools In Maine

The Green Schools Committee of the U.S. Green Building Council is pleased to offer the Green Schools symposium, provide a forum for educators, administrators, designers, school committee members, elected officials and others to focus on the process of planning to design, build and operate a Green School.  As presenters and panelists, architects, representatives from the Department of Education, school administrators and facilities managers will share the best practices learned through valuable experience and answer questions related to effectively planning for a school construction or renovation project.  There is no cost to attend the Symposium or the green school tours.

The Symposium is part of a series of events conducted by the USGBC Maine Chapter honoring green schools in Maine. Following the Symposium, tours will be available of two new LEED registered schools, Ocean Avenue Elementary in Portland and the Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary in Brunswick, from 3-5 pm. The day will conclude with “In the Limelight,” a social/networking event and the Annual Meeting of the Chapter. “In the Limelight” will take place from 5-7 pm at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies at 561 Congress St. in Portland. Attendees of the Symposium are encouraged to attend the tours and “In the Limelight.”
