The Bosarge Family Education Center at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay acheived LEED Platinum Certification in July 2011.  In addition to its impressive LEED Platinum certification, the building aims for net zero energy use.  This high performance, cutting-edge structure sets the highest example of what is possible in sustainable building design in Maine and beyond.

The project provides an important addition to CMBG’s environmental programming and will expand the Gardens’ public image. CMBG is dedicated to environmental stewardship and has created an exemplary icon of sustainability for the northeast region and the nation with this new 8,000 SF facility located adjacent to the Children’s Garden. Purposefully, this building will be very public and very accessible. A visit to the Gardens will offer thousands of visitors the opportunity to view important energy saving and environmentally friendly features. In addition to housing administrative offices for staff, the building itself will be a teaching tool with tours, interpretive signage, programs, and classes focused on its details. It will clearly communicate to visitors that conserving resources and energy results in environmentally positive benefits.

The Bosarge Family Education Center project is the result of a collaborative process involving a dedicated team of building professionals.  Please consult the sidebar to learn more about the project team.
