Saco and Biddeford Savings’ 14,000 square foot Operations Center was the first LEED Certified commercial building in Maine. Daylighting, high performance lighting with daylight controls, and a raised floor system are a few green design highlights of this project.

Energy Efficient Lighting
- Lights are motion sensitive
- Photo cells measure amount of incoming natural light and auto adjust
- Over 90% of occupants have access to views
- 42% savings over traditional methods
Heating and Ventilation
- Each employee can control temperature in his/her work space
- Heat from computer room A/C system used to heat basement and stairwell
- Air is returned to the A/S system in a cooler state, improving efficiency
- Variable Air Volume (VAV) underfloor air distribution system
Indoor Environment Quality
- Sensors in each zone and air intake vents to monitor CO2
Flexible interior features
- Removable walls provide flexibility for growth and change
- Wiring under floor is accessible
- Vents can be repositioned easily
Waste Management
- 98% of the construction waste recycle
